According to the Historians, the Capital of “Kaushal Reagion” (कौशल प्रदेश), “Awadh” (अवध), was known as Ayodhya” (अयोध्या) and “Saket” (साकेत) in the “Buddhist” Era(बौद्ध काल).

Ayodhya was originally Known as the “City of Temples”.

The Remains of temples Associated with Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism can be seen even today.

According to “Jainism”, five Tirthankaras (तीर्थंकर) including “Adinath” (आदिनाथ) were born here.

According to Buddhism, “Lord Buddha” (भगवन बुद्ध) had a monastery here for a few months.

Vaivaswat Manu, The Son Of Vivaswan (Surya) & King Dashratha:

Ayodhya was settled by the “Vaivaswat Manu” (वैवस्वत मनु), The Son Of “Vivaswan (Surya)” , Ancestor of “Lord Rama”.

Since then, the rule of “Suryavanshi Kings” on Ayodhya remained till the “Mahabharata” (महाभारत) period.

It was here that Lord “Shri Ram was born” in the palace of “King Dasharatha” (राजा दशरथ).

“Maharishi Valmiki” (महर्षि वाल्मीकि) has also compared the beauty and importance of “Ram Janmbhoomi” (राम जन्मभूमि) (Lord Rama Birth Place) in “Ramayana” to other Inderlok.

The story of the incomparable hues and skyscrapers in the city of “Ayodhya”, full of blessed and jewels, is also found in the “Valmiki Ramayana” (वालमीकि रामायण).

After this, it is mentioned that about 100 years before Isa, Chakravarti Emperor “Vikramaditya” of “Ujjain” reached “Ayodhya” while Hunting one day.

Due to fatigue, he started resting with his army under a Mango tree on the banks of river “Saryu” (सरयू नदी) in “Ayodhya”. At that time there was dense forest and there was no habitation.

Maharaja Vikramaditya (महाराजा विक्रमादित्य) saw some miracles in this land. Then he started the search and by the grace of the nearby Yogis and Saints he came to know that this is the “Awadh” land of “Lord Rama”.

On the instructions of those Saints, the Emperor built a grand temple here as well as a Well, Lake, palace etc.

It is said that he had built a Huge Temple of 84 pillars Made up of “Black Kasauti Stone” at “Sri Ram Janmabhoomi”. The grandeur of this temple was Devine.

First Ruler Of Shunga Dynasty: Pushyamitra Shunga:

Later kings of Vikramaditya visited this temple from time to time. One of these, the first Rular of the Shunga Dynasty (शुंग वंश), Pushyamitra Sunga (पुष्यमित्र शुंग) also got the temple renovated.

An inscription of Pushyamitra was received from Ayodhya, in which he was called the commander and there is also a description of “Two Ashwamedha Yagya” (अश्वमेध यज्ञ) performed by him.

Chandragupta II & Raghuvansham Of Kalidas:

It is known from many records that the “Gupta Dynasty” (गुप्त साम्राज्य) was the capital of the “Gupta Empire” during the time of “Chandragupta II” (चन्द्रगुप्त द्वितीय) and for a long time thereafter.

“Kalidasa” (महाकवि कालिदास), the Gupta Mahakavi, has also mentioned “Ayodhya” several times in “Raghuvansham” (रघुवंश).

According to historians, during 600 BC there was an important trade center in Ayodhya.

The place gained international recognition in the 5th century BCE, when it developed into a major Buddhist center. Then its name was “Saket” (साकेत).

Fa-hien (Faxian) & Xuanzang Huentsang:

It is said that the Chinese Monk “Fa-hien (Faxian)” (फा-हियाँ)saw that there is a record of many “Buddhist” monasteries here.

Here in the 9th century, Chinese traveler “Xuanzang (Huentsang)” (ह्वेन शांग) came, according to which there were 20 Buddhist temples and 3000 monks lived. Here was a major and grand temple of Hindus where thousands of people used to come to visit every day.

Kannauj King Jaichand:

After that, in the 11th century AD, “Kannauj Naresh Jaichand” (कन्नौज नरेश जयचंद) came, he overthrew the famous inscriptions of “Maharaja Vikramaditya” on the temple and got his name written.

After the “Battle of Panipat”, Jaichand also came to an end and the attack of invaders on India increased even more.

Invaders Killed Saint & Sages:

The invaders looted Kashi, Mathura as well as Ayodhya and killed the priests and broke the temples.

But till the 14th century, they could not succeed in breaking the temple of Lord Rama in Ayodhya.

Sikandar Lodhi:

Even after various attacks, the temple of Lord Shri Ram survived the storm till the 14th century.
It is said that this temple was present till the reign of “Sikandar Lodhi” (सिकंदर लोदी).

In the 14th century, the “Mughals” had control of India. After which several campaigns went on to destroy “Shri Ram Janmabhoomi” and “Ayodhya”.

Finally, in 1527–28, the grand Temple was Demolished and replaced by the structure of “Babri Masjid”.

It is said that during the Bihar campaign, a Commander of Babur, the founder of the Mughal Empire, had built a Mosque by breaking the ancient and grand temple located at Sri Rama’s Janmbhoomi (birthplace) in Ayodhya, which was present until 1992.

According to “Baburnama” (बाबरनामा), during the Ayodhya stay in 1528, Babur ordered the construction of the mosque.
This is also indicated by two messages inscribed in the mosque built in Ayodhya.

There is one particularly notable in this, the essence of which is — till Jannat, which has the expenses of justice, on the orders of such a great Leader Babur, the merciful “Mir Banki” (जन्नत तक जिसके न्याय के चर्चे है , ऐसे महान शाषक बाबर के आदेश पर दयालु मीर बांकी) completed this place of angels (जगह को मुकम्मल रूप दिया).

However, it is also said that this land (Ram Janmbhoomi) was handed over to the Hindus in the form of a Chabutara (चबूतरे) during the reign of “Akbar” (अकबर) and “Jahangir” (जहांगीर).

After this, the cruel ruler “Aurangzeb” (औरंगज़ेब), fulfilling the dreams of his ancestor “Babur” (बाबर), built a grand mosque here named “Babri Masjid” (बाबरी मस्जिद).

The Babri Masjid was Demolished on 1992, after which “Ramlala” (रामलला) was seated in a tent.

Temporary Lord Rama Temple in Ayodhya:

“Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath” set up a Temporary Ram Temple (अस्थायी राम मंदिर) in Ayodhya at 4 am on 25 March 2020.

After 27 years, “Ramlala” seated out of the tent and placed in the temple of fiber (which is built in Delhi).
