Murudeshwar Temple is in Bhatkal, Karnataka

“Uttara Kannada District” is in the state of Karnataka.
There is a temple of Lord Shiva in “Bhatkal Tehsil” of this district which is famous as “Murudeshwar Temple”.

A. TEMPLE IS AT THE COAST OF ARABIAN SEA:

This temple is built on the banks of the “Arabian Sea”.
Due to the sea coast, the beauty the Temple attracts everyone’s mind.

Apart from being very beautiful, this “Shiva Temple” is also very special, because there is also a huge statue of “Lord Shiva” Eshtablished in this temple area which is considered as the “Second largest Shiva Statue” in the world.

C.1. RAVANA PENANCE:

According to the Ancient Stories, when “Ravana” was doing “Penance” to get the “Boon of Immortality” from “Lord Shiva”, then “Shiv ji” becopme happy and gave “Ravana” a “Shivalinga” called “Aatmalinga” (आत्मलिंग).

To this “Aatmalinga”(आत्मलिंग), “Lord Shiva” said that to establish this Atmalinga by taking it to “Lanka”.
Keep in mind that the place where you place this “Linga” the “Linga” will be established there.
Therefore, if you want to become Immortal, then you establish this “Linga” by taking it to “Lanka”, and then “Ravana” takes this “Shivlinga”(शिवलिंग) and moves towards the “Lanka”.

C.2. DECEIT OF LORD VISHNU:

Not all the Gods wanted “Ravana” to be “Immortal”, so “Lord Vishnu” tricked “Atmalinga”(आत्मलिंग ) into the way to “Lanka”.

When “Ravana” came to know of the deceit of “Lord Vishnu”, he became angry and trying to destroyed the “Atmalinga”(आत्मलिंग), then the “Divine Garment”(दिव्य वस्त्र) which was on the “Atmalinga” (आत्मलिंग) flew away and entered the “Murudeshwar Region”.
Due to this divine dress(दिव्य वस्त्र), this area started to be considered as a “Pilgrimage Area” (Teertha Kshetra).

D.1. THE TALLEST STATUE OF LORD SHIVA:

A huge statue of “Lord Shiva “123 feet” high is Eshtablished in the Murudeshwar Temple Area, which is the second largest statue of Lord Shiva.

This “Lord Shiva Statue” has been constructed in such a way that the Sun Rays continue to fall on this Statue, which makes this Statue appear even more supernatural.

Murudeshwar Temple is built on the “Kanduka Hill” and has covered by “Arabian Sea” From three Sides.

Due to mountains, greenery and rivers, the Temple Surroundings looks very beautiful and attractive.
